Smile Maker Programs

Giving kids with cancer a reason to smile.

Our smile maker programs are focused on bringing joy and happiness to pediatric cancer patients and their families while providing them with some much-needed relief from the daily stress and hardship of treatment.

BEADS

B.E.A.D.S. (Beading Each A Different Story)

Oncology patients receive a specific bead to represent an important procedure or event in their treatment. Patients string their beads together to give them a sense of achievement and help them cope with the numerous procedures and treatments they must endure.  One Mission also funds a BEADS Program for siblings to provide support to family members who are also severely impacted by this disease.

Birthday

Birthday Parties & Celebrations

Many times, throughout the year, we host birthday and special occasion parties. Our special occasion celebrations include all the major holidays as well as other fun days such as Puppy Day, Unicorn Day, National Donut Day, and many more!

Code Pizza

Pizza, unique snacks, desserts and other fun food items are offered to Boston Children’s Hospital oncology staff when it’s most urgently needed, providing them with a moment of pause, and very well-deserved recognition.

End_of_Chemo

End of Chemo Celebrations

A monumental moment in the cancer journey is the end of chemo!  One Mission provides the funds to purchase supplies and decorations to make these milestone celebrations ones that families will never forget.

Family_Dinners_Holiday_Meals

Family Dinners & Holiday Meals

Food brings people together, so it’s no surprise that catered dinners and lunches hosted by One Mission are always a big hit for patients and their families.  Events like pizza, pasta, and taco nights as well as parent lunches and caregiver snacks are widely anticipated by patients and staff alike.

Family_Fun_Fest

Family Fun Festival

One Mission is a primary sponsor of the annual Jimmy Fund Festival at Boston’s Franklin Park Zoo. This event brings together patients, survivors, family members, and Jimmy Fund Clinic staff to share an afternoon of outdoor fun away from the clinic.  Interacting with others who have gone through the same experience creates a sense of belonging, boosts confidence, and promotes healthy development.

Noodle_Caboodle

Noodle Caboodle Cart

Hair loss is a common side effect of cancer treatment and a sensitive topic linked to self-esteem for many children and adolescents.  The Noodle Caboodle Cart provides patients with hats, scarves, and wigs, as well as books and educational tools, to help ease the anxiety of losing their hair.

One Mission Camp

One Mission Day Camp

At One Mission, we focus on the entire family; not just the patient. We’re so excited to have teamed up with Camp Casco to host the One Mission Day Camp in 2024! From arts & crafts to water fights, and field games to pies in the face, this non-stop week of fun helps patients, survivors, and siblings connect in a low-pressure setting.

Patient_Fieldtrips

Patient & Sibling Arts & Cultural Field Trips

One Mission funds quarterly off-site art and cultural events and social outings for patients and families at Hasbro Children’s Hospital.  In addition to special outings open to all ages, One Mission also provides social gatherings and special events geared toward teens and outings geared towards younger kids.

YUM_Day

YUM Day

As a special summer treat, One Mission funds YUM Day at Hasbro Children’s Hospital.  Visiting room-to-room, patients and their families receive a cup of Pinkberry Frozen yogurt along with several topping choices satisfying taste buds across the pediatric oncology floor. YUM!
